What is a Parabolic Reflector?
In lighting terms, a reflector is a device that controls light distribution by redirecting a lamp’s light in a specific direction. A parabolic reflector is typically used to redirect light given off by an HID lamp.
Why is it Called a Parabolic Reflector?
The term “parabolic” refers to the shape of the reflector. That is to say, this particular reflector takes the shape of a circular paraboloid. A commonplace example of a parabolic reflector would be the reflector you see encircling the bulb of a flashlight.
