What is Candlepower?
The luminous intensity of a light source is its candlepower, or CP. 1 candlepower is equal to 0.981 candelas.
What’s the difference between candlepower and footcandles?
Candlepower measures the luminous intensity of the light source itself. A footcandle, on the other hand, measures the light at a specific distance from the source—specifically, one foot away from the source. Hence “footcandle.”
