What is a Candlepower Distribution Curve?
A candlepower distribution curve is a visual representation of the distribution of light produced by a specific lamp. It provides useful information about how a luminaire illuminates a space and how much light falls on a given surface.
How Do You Interpret a Candlepower Distribution Curve?
There’s a lot going on in a candlepower distribution curve, but here’s the most useful tip for interpreting one:
The solid line you see represents the light distribution when you’re viewing the light straight on. The dotted line represents the light distribution from the side view. Don’t see a dotted line? That means the light distribution is identical for both front and side views, causing the solid and dotted lines to overlap, making it appear as though there is no dotted line at all.
